Dear Santa..

Of course I've got a wish list for Santa!
I really hadn't got the time to write a proper letter but let's hope some last-minute-images would do the trick!

Merry Christmas and let's hope that all our REAL wishes come true!

A useful piece of furniture!

Extremly interesting idea to create a kitchenette which quickly turns into a great piece of furniture!
How does it all work..??
I always believe drawings and photos are the best way to expalin a concept..

The materias used are of extreme high quality which transform the piece into a tremendous element which enriches the space around it. Functional with an integrated stainless sink, hob, compact fridge and high-tech microwave. All sockets and lights have been designed and integrated in order to provide a fully-working piece of appliance. The attention to deatils makes this element extremely beautiful and sophisticated. This piece of furniture works extremly well in holiday lettings, especially seasonal.

Scandinavian design. The perfect furniture for Christmas!

Scandinavian design is extremely stylish, functional, organic and durable but most of all it is so so cozy!  Christmas is exactly that, a time when you feel cozy, relaxed, comfortable in the warmth of your sparkly decorated home.
For the past four months, I have been involved in the design of a new coffee academy in London where Swedish roasted coffee will be served. Not only that, you can in fact learn and appreciate more about coffee and even become a fully-trained barista. Wow!
I feel so honored to work with such an amazing initiative/project. Plus, being Italian I obviously have a soft spot for coffee..
Clearly the interiors of this amazing coffee shop have to remind Scandinavia! A fireplace, timber cladding, moose, elk, lots of white, lots of red and most importantly stunning Scandinavian furniture.
I’ve got such a great collection of amazing pieces which I’d like to share with you all.. ..and it’s all so Christmassy, don’t you think..??

Hej då!

Is it just paper..?!?

Having recently moved to a new house we've been trying to re-style every room by injecting a modern twist everywhere possible!
An extremely interesting challenge is lighting. So many possibilities, so many options, effects, technologies.. Fascinating but extremely tricky!
Eventually we came up with a cool temporary solution. Paper shade!
We started with the most traditional shape but soon realised that there are so many designs and geometry out there..

Twisted, curled, wrapped.. An enormous choice of fantastic creations which become artwork. All sort of budget. All sort of finishes. All sort of taste. All sort of details.
Researching and discovery new designs and eventually re-placing them became almost a new passion!
The light is tremendously atmospheric and very warm and comfortable.
Which one is your favourite..?!? I love them all..
From a temporary solution, we have eventually found what gives us the energetic positive buzz when switching the light on!

..they look cool even with the light off!

Ciao!

Raspberry Pi or Pie..?!?

Exactly what I was asking myself yesterday when I've been invited to attend a local creative group.
Rachel Rayns, artist-in-residence at Rasperry Pi illustrated with enormous passion her fantastic work with this extraordinary new platform.
Rasperry Pi, as you've might got it, it's not a cake ;-)
Raspberry Pi is a credit-card-sized computer created by ARM as educational tool with the aim of promoting computer science in schools. This capable little computer plugs into your TV and a keyboard and can be used in electronics projects as well as spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video.

Kids are tremendously good at it! It's fascinating to watch a 5 year-old typing codes away and create an interactive game by simply using this tremendous platform! Technology gallops! I used to play with Lego in my not-so-old-days!

Walking home I suddenly realised how little we know. Every discipline is becoming more and more specialised and our brain simply doesn't have enough space to capture and hold all this information.
It's so intriguing, especially for creative souls like me, to discover new platform, new opportunities, new challenges and be able to implement them and create an extraordinary new experience.
As Christmas is coming up, I might get a Raspberry Pi and literally start playing with it..

Ciao!

Off to Cambridge University today!

Yes, that's right!
I've been invited to give a presentation of my work in Cambridge to the students of the Faculty of Architecture! What an honour!!
The day is today, one hour to go and I'm here sitting in a wonderful cafe just opposite the Department of Architecture. I don't feel nervous but I can definitely feel the adrenaline. It's such an exciting opportunity and a fun adventure.

The assembly room is ready! Students should be here any minute and I'm using those precious second to appreciate this spectacular place, the atmosphere in this department is simply fascinating. The building has been recently restored and extended in order to create more resourceful areas for the students.

Attention to detail is key! Everything is beautifully done and specifically thought out. Great material and outstanding finishes, exposed bricks and gorgeous furniture. Extremely chuffed to be here to give a talk about my own work.
The head of the department has approved my presentation and found interesting out I've touched such interesting characteristics of the city of Cambridge. I'm delighted and the students were interested and followed my speech all the way thorough..
After all I really had to perform to my best considering who they're used to listen to..

Honoured and over the moon! I've been eventually asked to form part of the jury of an internal architectural competition at the university of Cambridge. Wow!
..and that was my day today!

Lazy like a Sunday morning, almost!

Woke up early this AM. We've heard Umberto baby steps walking around.. So cute! The very first night on his big bed. He has slept through the night beautifully!   ..and so we did!
Breakfast and most importantly coffee. Peaceful! The first family awake in the whole close!
Umberto and daddy Matthew are now watching TV while I'm lying in bed contemplating this beautiful morning.

I feel I'm stealing a bit of space just for me and I'm feeling so safe, cuddled and fulfilled just by relaxing a bit in my bedroom.
I should do this more often..
I love the white tones of my room, the natural materials like the original noisy wooden floor and the beautiful cast-iron fireplace. A bunch of lavender straight from my garden give me a rustic sense of tranquility.

Happy lazy Sunday everybody!

Ciao!
