Waiting for EXPO 2015 in Milan, Italy!!

We've been soooo busy in the last few months! Extremely excited to work on a new project in Porto Cervo, Sardinia which is now taking me to Italy a lot more often!

During one of my recent trips I had the chance to re-visit Milan! What a gorgeous city full of life and tremendous expectations!
Milan is where the next International Exposition has been scheduled and the city is totally involved in getting everything ready for the grand opening on May 1st, 2015.
This is the second time that Milan is hosting the EXPO, the first being the Milan International of 1906.

The first of a series of World's Fair exhibitions of culture and industry was The Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of all Nations or The Great Exhibition held  in Hyde Park, London, from May 1st to October 11th, 1851.
International Expositions became particularly popular in the 19th-century showcasing in cities like Paris, New York, Sydney.

Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life is the theme of EXPO 2015Representing and displaying how creativity, infrastructure, technology, innovation, culture, traditions relate to food, recipes and diet. Totally ideal for Italy where you can find some of the best design and top food!

20 millions visitors are expected to visit EXPO 2015 between May and October. The site located near Rho and Pero covers an area of approx. 200 hectares.
The concept plan for the Expo 2015 site was designed by a team of four architects which includes Stefano Boeri, Mark Rylander, Richard Burdett, and Jacques Herzog.
140 nations plus a significant number of international organizations will be represented through pavilions, an amphitheatre, design works, external spaces, artworks, food and new technologies.

The works on site is carrying out at speedy pace. Deadlines are getting tighter and tighter! I'm keeping track of the different projects and event updates following the official Twitter and Instagram accounts of EXPO 2015 @Expo2015Milano.

I'm so looking forward to buying my ticket and book my flight to Milan! Am I seeing you there..!??!

Ciao!

Your dream bedroom!

Light, spacious, relaxing, cozy.. That's what you really want for your bedroom!
But what about style..?!? How to get that luxurious atmosphere..?!?

Currently working on an apartment refurbishment in Essex UK and I'm sketching away options and ideas for my clients' master bedroom.

First of all a massive bed is what you really want and make sure you have at least four pillows if not more for extra comfort and luxury.
Choose light and clean pattern for your duvet and bedding. You want to be able to calm down and relax in your bedroom. White, ecru, light grey, cream and sandy tones..
Light is so important! Allow as much natural light in the room. Keep your curtains open and maybe add a voile for privacy..

A magnificent floor lamp next to a comfortable armchair by the window is the ideal spot for reading, pamper yourself or simply relaxing.
Cleverly positioned LED spotlights will give your bedroom a magical atmosphere. Choose a warm light and play with the dimmer to balance the perfect tone of light you want.

A simple floating shelf instead of the standard bedside table will add more room around your bed. Plus, bedside tables are generally full of clutter!
A sliding doors large wardrobe is the ideal solution. You can have a chest of drawers built in it, mirrors, hangers, hooks and baskets. You want to be able to move and store all your clothes and shoes quite easily just by pulling that sliding quite door..

Finally, make sure you use your bedroom not just for sleeping! Relax, have a tête-à-tête with your partner, play with your kids, do your nails, make-up.. Whatever gets you away from the daily stress!

Enjoy your bedroom!!

Ciao!

Italian large and stylish wardrobes!

Working away for some Italian clients living in Cambridge and they do want everything made and manufactured in Italy!

I must admit they have good taste!

I am reorganising the internal layout and I will try to make teh most of the bedroom space by incorporating a stunning piece of furniture from Italy.

Italian wardrobes are generally very large and very tall. You can not only store a lot of clothes and accessories but you can display your best items and easily pick what you want to wear. It is a tiny luxury but it makes the start of your day so much better!
The quality is superb, great finishes and gorgeous materials. Versatile and extremely beautiful. You won’t need much else in your bedroom or walk-in-closet.

A large choice of styles, sizes, shapes and materials. I have selected a few options for my clients which I am more than happy to share with you all!

Feel free to contact me for more information.
I can forward you more details/catalogues/reference and why not, ideas!

Ciao

Italian bathroom design! Bellissimo!!

Friday!

Generally I tend to leave the "nice stuff" for this last day of the working week. I'm currently working on a large renovation project in Cambridge, UK. My clients, a fantastic Italian family, are particularly keen on incorporating a modern Italian bathroom within the project.

And here I am! I just can’t wait o start playing with gorgeous tiles, porcelain sanitary-ware and elegant taps!

Italian bathrooms are particularly different and extremely attractive.  Italians do like their shower! Funnily enough we are not bath people. We commonly have a bidet (97% of the households in Italy have one!) and our bathroom is generally quite large and luxurious.

Below some inspiring bathrooms from prestigious companies.

Ciao!

How about an Italian stylish fireplace?

One of the things I am missing the most from Italy is the traditional fireplace.
In Italy, like most of the Southern Europe it is common to have an open fireplace in the kitchen, living room and/or in the basement. The fireplace can be of different style, shape and material.

Originally the fireplace was a necessity to the household, it was used for cooking and to keep the house warm during cold winters. Nowadays the fireplace is a comfort feature and a visual element. Fireplaces can be also found in the garden or patio and are mostly used for cooking and grilling meat and vegetables as well as baking pizzas and bread. Yum!
Fireplace become a social focal point, both inside and/or outside the house.
While working for a client in Italy who lives in the Treviso area, I have been collecting a series of beautiful and stylish fireplaces which I like to share with you all.

Ciao!
